New facility for Continental Alloys & Services Singapore

March 6, 2013

Construction of Continental Alloys & Services’ Singapore facility is complete and we are excited to announce the official grand opening of our new first-class facility!

The new development includes a two-story office building and 46,000 square feet of warehouse space, which undoubtedly strengthens our competitive edge in the Asia Pacific region and enhances our customer base and room for additional growth. The operations are located on Pioneer Road/ Tuas West Avenue in Jurong Industrial Park- just three miles from Continental’s previous location.

Continental’s  grand opening on March 6th, included a traditional ceremony where the custom of "cai ching" (採青), meaning “plucking the greens” was performed.  “Cai ching” is a quest by the lion to pluck the green and fruit along with a red envelope containing money.  The "lion" will dance and approach the symbolic “green” and “red envelope” like a curious cat, and "eat the green" and "spit" it out - leaving it in a nice arrangement, like an auspicious character.  The lion dance is believed to bring good luck and fortune to the business and the troupe is rewarded with the "red envelope". The attendance of Singapore officials, clients, and vendors as well as the pride that the Continental staff showed since the opening has given all of Continental further assurance that this will continue to be a great business unit for the company.
